This event is a reminder that MARPOL Annex I Regulation 43A – the Arctic ban on use and carriage of highly polluting heavy fuel oil – becomes law on 1 July 2024. The webinar addressed the coming Arctic HFO ban, and why this regulation should be implemented by States and the shipping sector without the use of exemptions or waivers. This webinar also lookedf at the required next steps with respect to protecting the Arctic from the risks associated with using HFOs.
